Precious scales
Precious stones are well, precious and if you are buying scales to weigh precious stones then you’ll want no less than absolute accuracy. However, as with all scales, precious stone scales have to make a call between focusing on precision and maximum capacity. The larger the load precious stones scales can take, the bigger the difference between increments. In the same way, the smaller the increment precious stone scales can weigh, the smaller the overall load it can take. This is in the main true, although there are exceptions.
Precious stone scales that can weigh up to twenty grams, the equivalent of this is one hundred carats, is likely to be able weigh in increments of 0.1g. Precision stone scales with a larger load of say five hundred carats, the equivalent of which is one hundred grams, are more likely to offer an increment precision of 1g, although we stock precious stone scales that can take this maximum load and still weigh in increments of 0.1g.
