Gram scales are another term for the incremental capacity ability of digital scales, especially in the “UK”. Incremental capacity is simply the difference between weights that your gram scales can weigh – for example, they can weigh to the accuracy of one gram, or 0.1g, or ten grams. More clearly, if you were to place mass on ten gram scales that weighed one gram, it would measure the mass as 0 grams, or as ten grams.
Gram scales have an incremental capacity of one gram, so if you placed a mass of 3.4g on gram scales, it would weigh that mass as 3g. There are scales which are more precise than gram scales and which weigh in tenths of grams, however, scales like these tend not to be able to weigh as much mass in one go as gram scales. Gram scales, especially in the “UK”, can sometimes weigh as much as 1kg in one weigh. More accurate scales from “UK” distributors can sometimes weigh up to 500g.
Gram scales offer great value for money, in fact you could even say that digital gram scales can be picked up pretty “cheap” – just make sure that they come with a good guarantee.
